Blessing or cursing

1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. 3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day. (Genesis 1:1-3)

As we have begun the new year , I would like to encourage us to take some inventory of the words we have spoken.
Our words are commands and what we say,  shall happen . God literally spoke the world into creation and He  made us in His image  (Genesis 1:27. )
Therefore we have the same power and authority with our words. We are supposed to create, speak truth, bring healing,  transformation,  dominion when we speak like God does.  Job  22:28 reads: “You will also decide and decree a thing, and it will be established for you;
And the light [of God’s favor] will shine upon your ways.”

We as women are said to speak an average of 20 000 words a day . During the month of January our topic of study as Gracious Women was the tongue.  We discussed and examined how imperative it is to not only be aware of what we say but also the importance of submitting our tongues to God daily.

Are the words you are speaking:
Bringing life or death (Proverbs 18:21)
Are they acceptable in God’s sight  (Psalm 19:14)
Thought out or careless (Matthew 12:36)
Soft or harsh (Proverbs 15:1)
Gracious or cruel (Proverbs 16:24)
Full of anger, bitterness and full of desire to cause pain and hurt to the other (Colossians 3:8)

We need to not only be aware but be alert of what we are speaking. Time has run out for us to play games, play the victim or second guess ourselves ,and to continue to align with the ways of this world, ; where joking , mockery,  freedom, hated and deception rule.

“Now, therefore, fear the Lord and serve Him in sincerity and in truth; remove the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the [Euphrates] River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. 15 If it is unacceptable in your sight to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve: whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you live; but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” (Joshua 24:14-15)
