Testifying or Concealing ?

This month I have taken some time to  reflect on our monthly focus. As I have been doing so I have found myself on a journey of travelling from my past to where I am now. However, I have found this “trip” down memory lane to be less somber than it has been before. This time around I have looked at my past, my journey, my lessons, my victories and disappointments through a different lens.

Our scripture for this month is from Revelation 12:11 which reads:

“And they overcame and conquered him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, for they did not love their life and  renounce their faith even when faced with death.”

As we examine and explore what it truly means to testify, we learn a few things that have caused me to consider if my personal walk reflects one who testifies or instead one who tests. I believe the difference lies in whom I put my trust in, what I hold as truth and what I believe I am supposed to be doing with my life here on earth.

You see the scripture says:
1)  “..they overcome and conquered him.. “
2) “..because of  the blood of the Lamb..”
3) “..because of the word of their testimony..”
4) “..and they loved nor their lives unto death.”

So, we can only defeat the enemy by the blood of the Lamb, which is our Lord Jesus Christ. Our triumphs over the things that previously held us captive, our very existence is solely dependent upon the Lord himself. He is the one we are to trust in and once we overcome those problems/issues, we are to share with others around us. Not only are we meant to defeat the enemy but our word of our testimony also comes into play. This led me to think, what do I talk about when I am around others? Do I testify of God’s goodness in my life or do I merely complain, winge and grumble? Do I disclaim God in my victory or do I conceal my testimony altogether? Do people know that I overcame depression, guilt and shame ,and if they do, do they know how?

We see the power of testimony evident in John 4 with the woman at Samaria. After her encounter with Jesus , verse 28-29  states:
“Then, leaving her water jar, the woman went back to the town and said to the people, “Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Messiah?”

She was transformed in her encounter and  she shared it with her town. The result was astounding; verse 30 reads : “They came out of the town and made their way toward him.”
It goes on to say :
“Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman’s testimony, “He told me everything I ever did.”

She didn’t come with a sermon, a teaching or anything other than her testimony.
Verse 40, says;  “So when the Samaritans came to him, they urged him to stay with them, and he stayed two days. 41 And because of his words many more became believers.”

A whole town was transformed because of her testimony. Imagine the impact yours could have too .

Can we encourage you to not keep silent anymore about your testimony.  What you share has the power to encourage, build and change another’s life. I believe this is what Jesus meant when He charged us:
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20)

My world is different from your world in that your world is your area of influence. Your world is where God has placed you and right there, where you are transformation, healing, revelation and purpose can be birthed because your daily confession is one about God’s goodness.
